Bottom line, don't go to this clinic unless it's a real emergency. And I'm sorry to say it, you'll need to have the money to pay the undoubtably high bill.
Professional and kind. Be prepared to pay two or three times as much as a regular veterinary clinic. But, when an emergency happens, they're there.
Our Double Doodle experienced a sudden onset of severe abdominal pain at 10 PM on a Saturday night. MedVet in Girard, OH was the ONLY 24 hour Emergency Vet we could find in the area - and we live in PA. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted at the door and our pet was taken to the back to be examined. It was much like an ER for people in that the most ill and truly emergent cases were made a priority - as was the case with our Rooney. His Surgery was completed by midnight at which time the Surgeon himself called us at home to give us the report. We had several follow-up calls from the staff during his stay and we were encouraged to call in anytime we wanted to get an update. I would definitely recommend anyone take their pet here to be treated as our dog received excellent care.
I read all the heart breaking, one star reviews. I have no doubt that the workers at the clinic care for the animals, but you must remember this is a clinic of last resort. EVERY case is an heartbreaking emergency. So everyone would expect a break on the price. You can't do that and stay in business.
Our puppy had become severely anemic and passed out. We drove an hour to MedVet and were met with compassion and concern. Even at the late hour on a Sunday, the waiting room had several people and all were happy with the service. Puppy is doing well!
As a medical professional myself i would use them again and will recommend them...yes as other post show it will cost you more money than a regular vet visit but remember they are not a regular vet office...they are open at times the regular vet is not in...so a premium is expected plus the office is very nice....thank you Doc and your wonderful staff...
Brought my 9 week old yorkie in today...
Diagnosed with hypoglycemia and dehydration... they gave him iv fluids and sugar...the doctor was caring and professional...the staff was equally as good...they saved my puppies life...
My dog, Toby, had surgery with my local vet who did an excellent job. However, on a Sunday the incision began to leak. I took him to MedVet Medical Center where they took excellent care of him. They did an additional surgery to insert a tube. They kept him over night to make sure the bleeding was under control. The staff was kind and compassionate.
My dog was limping really bad. It just got worse as time went by. I thought it might be more then just a sprained paw. We couldn't rule out lime disease so we started treatment for it. I went into the clinic knowing it was going to cost a lot of money. I was still surprised at how much it did cost. But the doctor worked with me telling me my options and the cost, and we settled on a plan. For the tests and pills it still ended up costing over $400, but that's what you get for going to an emergency clinic.
As for my dog, he's doing great. I spent a lot of money, but I got peace of mind and my dog was a lot better within days. I'm grateful they were there and open, when nobody else was. It was money well spent.
